Lee Shannon
Research and Administrative Assistant
Liverpool Hope University
(Fixed term contract until Aug 2010 for duration of CETL funding only)
After leaving a career in marketing I gained an MSc in Applied Psychology and now work as the Research and Administrative Assistant to the Write Now CETL at Liverpool Hope University. My primary academic interests include the study of language, metaphor, and embodied concepts stemming from recent movements in cognitive linguistics. I am currently in the process of registering for a PhD that will explore embodiment in scientific communication and cover issues such as the use/misuse of the first person perspective in academic writing.
My current position affords me a variety of roles and responsibilities in both an administrative and research capacity. My main responsibility is in supporting the pedagogical research of my colleagues which typically involves qualitative and quantitative data collection/analysis, literature reviews and the preparation of research for publication/presentation. My other duties include the production of PRIME the in-house journal for Liverpool Hope, the organisation of Psychology Teaching Review (a publication of the British Psychological Society) and administrative support to the Centre for Learning and Teaching.
