I am currently studying for a PhD in Health Psychology, investigating demographic differences in the predictors and effects of negative body image. I have a wide range of research interests including: food and health, media, writing in different disciplines, and feedback from students who have used the London Metropolitan University Writing Centre.
My roles and responsibilities at the Write Now CETL include working on various on-going research projects, as well as teaching in the Writing Centre based at London Metropolitan University. My past research activities have included planning and conducting focus groups and designing and implementing online questionnaires. I have also been involved in conducting qualitative analysis on oral and written feedback obtained from students and writing mentors, using the principles of Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. I also assist the research team in writing research reports and journal publications, as well as preparing conferences papers and posters.
I also work as a writing mentor at the London Metropolitan Writing Centre, where I have one-to-one tutorials with both undergraduate and postgraduate students, from a range of disciplines. These tutorials can last up to an hour, in which the writing mentor and the student work in collaboration, in order to help the student to become a more confident writer and discuss any other writing or assignment issues he/she may have. These tutorials are mainly student-led, where the student can talk about his/her writing related issues in a relaxed and informal environment. I also assist the team at London Metropolitan University in running Writing Centre workshops and conferences designed for students.
